Manitoba Crime Stoppers seeks help locating a Walinga Model 510 grain vacuum stolen between September 29 and October 1, 1987, one kilometer north of Brandon on Highway No 10. The green unit with yellow trim, on a two wheeled trailer, is valued at 12000 dollars. Cash awards up to 2000 dollars are possible for tips. callers may remain anonymous.
The Rossburn area Knights of Columbus await word from Manitoba Housing and Renewal about when the 12 unit Elderly Persons Housing project will begin. Tony White, Grand Knight, says six Parkview Drive lots have been purchased behind a local store. An announcement on tenders is expected within weeks, with completion hoped for this fall.
The Rossburn RCMP attended a domestic dispute at Lizard Point Reserve where one person was held in custody. Marlene Clearsky died on the reserve from hypothermia. A runaway juvenile was reported December 23, and Christmas Eve saw poaching reports via the turn-in hotline. December 25 noted a single vehicle accident in Rossburn with damage. December 27 a reserve accident damaged a house by backing into it for $1,000. A December 29 roll over left one man charged with impaired driving and a separate assault complaint on the reserve.
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn met on Monday December 14 with Reeve John Mitchell presiding. By Law 1179 was amended to authorize sale of Lot 11 Special Plan 7559 Vista to Daniel Henry Strad and Marlene Ruth Strad as joint tenants for six hundred dollars and other value. Other by laws 1180 1181 1182 and 1183 were presented and readings completed. Council formed standing committees and appointed duties for wards I and II with listed members and organizations for the 1988 term.
