Final wheat board payments total about 409 million dollars
Regina Senator Hazen Argue, minister in charge of the Canadian Wheat Board, announced more than 400 million dollars will be injected into the prairie economy as final payments for the 1982 83 crop year are mailed. No. 1 Canada Red Spring Wheat will pay 48 cents per bushel, with Spring wheat totaling 367 248 000 dollars of the 409 679 000 dollars in payments. Saskatchewan receives 252.9 million, Alberta and B C 101.7 million, Manitoba 55.1 million.

Teenage church group becomes reality in Rossburn
The St. Theresa's RC Church in Rossburn forms a youth group of twelve teens led by Isa Rhea Robillard Vince Raskiw Colleen Palmer and Wendy Woychyshyn with Father Vince Herner's approval. They elect Blair Lonsberry president Richard Kostecki vice president Francine Slon secretary and Chris Jean treasurer. The group plans community involvement social events and exchanges with youth from other communities while aiming to deepen their faith and love of Jesus and the Church. A Christmas party December 16 at Francine Slon's home featured singing and laughter with two guests Heidi Lamb and Betty Hryciuk.

Manitoba farm groups announce a series of rural meetings from January 9 to 20 1984 to discuss a strengthened general farm policy organization. Shoal Lake hosts a January 17 8 00 P M gathering at the Ukrainian Hall as part of the statewide consultation led by the ad hoc Committee on Farm Organization Structure.
