The Angusville Curling Club completed its annual bonspiel with 32 rinks. Winners included Phil Decorby Foxwarren Allan Wotton Birtie and Ed Frieze Russell with multiple medals across events. Special prize went to Bob Chuchmuch for the biggest ender. thanks extended to donors and volunteers.

The Oakburn Ladies bonspiel held Feb 1 and 2 drew 16 rinks from Hamiota Foxwarren Shoal Lake Rossburn Sandy Lake Glenforsa Vista Newdale and other locals. Joan Baker of Vista skippered the Sun Life Trophy champions with M Matheson D Lucyshen L Kaliwnick finishing high. The event also featured a second and third competition with M cauley Shoal Lake Phyllis Tutkaluk Oak Nettie Hrysak Shoal Lake and others placing. The Ladies Curling Club thanked visiting rinks for a successful bonspiel.

The 10 and under Angusville team captured a trophy at a four team tournament in Oakburn on February 15. Russell brothers Terry Huston Jeff Garnett Cam Ziprick and Dale Robinson helped the squad as illness struck players. A Valentine chocolates raffle by the A C C raised 32.50 with Garry Sabeski winning.

50th Wedding Anniversary Celebrated in Winnipeg
On February 9 a family dinner at Mr and Mrs Joe Schaworski home in Winnipeg honored Mr and Mrs Peter Bidochka on their 50th wedding anniversary. They married February 12 1925 in Rossburn Man and farmed there until 1966 before moving to Winnipeg. They have six children ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. Congratulatory messages came from Premier Ed Schreyer Robert Stanfield Izzy Asper Sidney Spivak Lieutenant Governor McKeag Governor General and Madame Leger Mayor Kurchaba Rossburn City pins from Mayor Steve Juba and a Prime Minister scroll.

Funeral services were held January 28 at St. Pauls Church Shoal Lake for J Oscar Rae born in Winchester Ontario who came to Manitoba in 1902. He died January 25 1975 after a career as tinsmith plumber and Rae's Funeral Home and more than fifty years serving Shoal Lake. Interment Shoal Lake Cemetery. Surviving wife two daughters five grandchildren and son predeceased. Rev Ivan Smith Westminster United Church officiated with honorary and active pallbearers named.

Rossburn Collegiate held its annual bonspiel on Feb 14 and 15 with eight teams. Wayne Michalyshyn defeated Dennis Kaskin in the first event final to win the top prize, with the Michalyshyn rink earning the Pool Elevator Cup.

Rossburn's Streak Ends in Penalty-filled Loss at Kenton
Rossburn's seven game winning streak ends with a 7-6 defeat at Kenton on February 12. The game was called and awarded to Kenton at 14 51 of the third period after 74 minutes of penalties. Two Kenton players and two Hornets were ejected for fights as control of the contest slipped away.

Miniota Takes 6-3 Win in Intermediate D Playoff Opener
Miniota defeated Rossburn 6-3 in the first game of the Intermediate D playoff series at Rossburn Tuesday evening. Rossburn played minus captain and league scoring leader Jim Procyk. Miniota led 4-1 after the first period and 5-1 after two. Rossburn outscored Miniota 2-1 in the final period. Lawless scored twice for the Hornets and Gilbert once. Greg Little scored 3 goals for Miniota with singles by Leland Stewart and Wade Little.
