The Pelly Trail School Division meets January 13 and 27 1975 approving capital grants of 28675 for facilities and three 54 seat buses. New hires include two teachers and a para professional. The board opposes multi day Manex 1975 closure, discusses budget 1975 76 and asks municipalities for higher provincial aid.
The Rossburn 4 H Sewing Sisters plan Achievement Night for April 25 at the Collegiate. Leader Mrs. Radford and members Frances Antonin Laura Mitchell and Cheryl Hryciuk spoke at the January 30 Community Workshop in Russell and reported it as very interesting. They will again compete in public speaking and invite the public to view their projects.
Rossburn Hornets defeated Rivers 10-9 in a tight NCHL game played Saturday evening at Rossburn Arena. First period saw Rossburn goals by Lamabe and Procyk, with Rivers countering. second period featured multiple scoring exchanges led by Rivers and Veitch, and Rossburn sealed the win with late scores from Lamabe and Lawless.
The Birdtail Women’s Institute met at Mrs. Alice Hrubeniuk’s home with 8 members and 2 visitors. They exchanged valentines during roll call, reviewed December minutes and the treasurer’s report, and discussed correspondence. Proceeds from a whist drive supported the March of Dimes and Cancer fund. new officers were installed and another whist drive planned.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Howard McIntosh as they mark their 58th year together with family in February at their Waghy home.
The Angusville 10 and under tournament featured ten teams including Oakburn Russell Virden Dauphin St Lazare Brandon Minnedosa Roblin Grandview and Angusville. Final scores included Angusville 3 Oakburn 2 Russell 3 Virden 2 Dauphin 2 St Lazare 1 Brandon 10 Grandview 3 Minnedosa 10 Roblin 1 Angusville 3 Russell 0 Grandview 4 St Lazare 2 Brandon 8 Minnedosa 3 Virden 5-4 Virden Grandview and Virden won the J C Gray Trophy in the two day event.
Leaf Rapids Intermediates travel to Angusville for a two game exhibition set this weekend. The opener is Saturday February 15 at 7 30 p m and the Sunday contest follows at 2 00 p m.
The Ukrainian Catholic Women's League held a February 4 meeting at Mrs. Helen Tokar's home with twenty ladies. President Carol Kachan chaired as minutes were read, reports given, and donations approved. Lunch hosted by Trakalo Pachkowsky Antoniw.
