Veterans of World Wars gathered at the Rossburn Legion Hall to honor King George the Sixth. They paraded to the cenotaph and laid a wreath, then filled the United Church at 2 30 p m for a memorial service led by Rev R Barclay and Pastor W B Eaton.
At a Rossburn Recreation Association meeting the skating schedule was revised to allow hockey practices and games for all age groups. Public skating is set for Monday Wednesday and Friday evenings with Thursday 3 to 5 pm and Saturday 2 to 5 pm. Sunday skating is still under discussion for the next meeting.
Curlers from Rossburn consider hosting an open bonspiel as Silverton hosts forty rinks. With Memorial Arena nearing completion and other towns already holding large events, Rossburn hopes to create a similar annual tradition to unite curlers from across the province.
Mrs. Margaret Cleland Mrs. J G Stitt and Mrs. George Law led a Rossburn Victoria contingent to victory in Dauphin curling. They took two first prizes and the grand aggregate, winning Co op electric irons and Citizens electric radios while completing thirteen games with a single loss and plan to defend their trophy next year. Rossburn and Vista Juveniles also played hockey with Vista tying after overtime then winning 4 3 and Oakburn fell 18 2 to Rossburn in a separate seniors match. Three Rossburn rink members and others entered the Silverton Spiel with forty rinks.

Mrs J G Stitt notes faster mail with England to Rossburn letters in two days and a Toronto to Rossburn letter arriving within twenty four hours. The letters traveled via air, sent by Mrs S J Weatherly, former school principal’s wife, and Winnipeg train schedules can delay shipments if late.
The Rossburn Seniors host St Lazare in the arena debut on Saturday February 23 at 8 30 p m Admission 25 cents for adults 15 cents for children The new lighting system with forty 300 watt lights is highlighted as a feature and a large crowd is expected for this historic event.
