Oakburn Uses Grants for Senior Services and Recreation
Oakburn with 350 residents near Riding Mountain National Park is carrying out programs funded by four government grants totaling 24 832 dollars. A 14 742 dollar Local Initiative grant hires two men for senior services and two women for visitation and activity groups. A 6 250 dollar Provincial Employment Program funds six unskilled laborers for rink work. A 2 340 dollar Local Initiative Program funds legal advice for seniors and planning for a community centre. Shoal Lake Rural Municipality also gets a 15 000 dollar Lottery Facility Grant to build a rink.

Pelly Trail Divisional Science Fair Triumph in Oakburn
The Feb 9 event in Oakburn drew 110 projects from Inglis Russell Elphin stone Oakburn and Rossburn. Winners in K-3 to 4-6 categories earned trips to Brandon for the Western Manitoba Science Fair.
