Surprise Birthday Party for Mrs Silewich
A surprise birthday gathering was held at the home of Mr and Mrs M Slon for Mrs Sam Silewich on February 12. Hosts Mrs Slon Mrs Thompson Mrs Steve Maydanuik and Betty Ann Slon served lunch and presented a gift to the guest of honor.

School adopts Kelton Holiday Hi Fi for future use
The Student Council now owns a Kelton Holiday portable record player intended first for square dancing with hopes the whole school will use it for primary work music appreciation and French records as they become available. Three films were shown to the High School last Friday Modern France Latitude and Longitude and Western Wheat from the Visual Education Branch Manitoba Department of Education. A bowling tournament involved five teams of four with Olvia Verbowski Wayne McKnight Adele Trakalo Dorothy Murphy and Terry Kohuch as captains. Olvia’s team posted the high four game score 2726 and Orest Panchuk led boys with 755 while Mildred Kohach topped girls with 669. The council follows teachers and Mr Labassiere’s district recommendation to hold only one invitation bonspiel this year and it will be at Angusville. Three rinks two girls and two boys from this school will have free use of the rink on Saturdays. Many curling clubs charge schools for ice so the donation is greatly appreciated.

Rossburn Legion Lingo and Social Evening Aids March of Dimes
The Rossburn branch of the Canadian Legion hosted a Lingo and Social evening on February 5 to support the March of Dimes. The event raised 18 dollars and 15 cents with contributions from Ed Harris Terry Fowler Mrs Dave Maxwell Jack Thompson Donna Judy Huston and Fred Danyleyko.

Combined Meet of W.A. and W.M.S. Reports Small Needs
The Rossburn W.M.S. and W.A. held their February 12 meeting with 20 members present. The Manse Committee reported no current needs, while Christian Fellowship noted efforts for a sick member and visits to the ill. Members will bring tea towels to the April roll call, a March 22 Variety Concert is planned, and tea events are scheduled for February 16.

Death of Oakburn resident Julia Antonyshyn at 96
Elderly Oakburn resident Julia Antonyshyn died on February 6 at age 96. Born April 11, 1860 in Olchowchky she came to Canada in 1900 and Manitoba in 1900. She is survived by a brother John Krysowaty of Oakburn. Funeral February 8 at the Greek Catholic Church in Olha with burial at Olha Greek Catholic Cemetery. Rev Lehky officiated. W A Club Holds Birthday Tea and Social
The W. A. met at Mrs. Jas. Browns home on February six with a birthday tea hosted by Mrs. Browns and Mrs. W J Hamilton.
