The Rossburn Village Council met January 14 1975 to appoint officers for the year, consider by laws on dog impounding fees and taxes, approve provisional estimates, and plan staff and utility matters. A reconvened session January 21 reviewed fire facilities and recreation needs.
A family dinner at Mr and Mrs William McKietiuk home honored Mr and Mrs John Matiowsky on their 50th wedding anniversary. They married January 25 1925 in Leech Church Manitoba and later moved to a Rossburn area farm.
The Rossburn Hornets face Rivers in an NCHL game set for Saturday February 8 at 8 30 p m in Rossburn Arena. The matchup highlights hockey action for local fans with both teams vying for points.
The Rural Municipality of Silver Creek outlines 1975 committees led by Deputy Reeve R D Tibbatts and lists council fees including monthly stipends for the council and reeve, plus penalties for missed meetings. Provisional 1975 estimates cover grants, transportation, social services, economic development, and recreation with external business rates and various tax and service provisions. A 300 plan sale and a 500 grant to the Community Centre are noted, along with predator control requests and farm tractor rate scales. The meeting set for February 11 closes the session.
Ken SiiKg earned his first start in goal as Rossburn defeated Cardale 10 3 on Tuesday night February 4. Rossburn led 2 0 after the first period trailed 3 2 mid second before scoring eight unanswered goals to seal the win with a cleanly played game and only five minor penalties.
Angusville Atom 10 and under won 7 3 over Roblin with Rubeniuk scoring and Sidoryk aiding. Kostuik and Klimack also contributed. 14 and under beat Russell 4 1 with Katchin scoring three and Boryskiewich one. 8 and under beat Foxwarren 4 1 with Cochrane Mazur Spurway scoring. Team lists include Mazur Sidoryk Rubeniuk Klimack Spurway and others. A Novelty Bingo fundraiser set for February 20 at 8 p.m.
