A Manitoba meeting formed to oppose branch line abandonments discusses history from 1930s Royal Commissions to CN rail cuts. Key figures include Vince Poloway, Rudy Usick, P J Milanchuk, and MP Nick Mandziuk pledging western farmer support and on the spot hearings to protect grain transport. A 184-61 vote creates a single association with representatives from municipalities, villages, pools, and chambers.
A bridal shower for Judy Huston, bride elect, was held Saturday in the church annex with 107 guests signing the book. Corsages were given to Judy and her mother and groom elect’s mother. The address was read, gifts shown, and a lunch served as "For She's A Jolly Good Fellow" echoed. Curling in Angusville Bonspiel saw Mary Klym Barbara Major Jean Michalchuk and Dora Verbowski place 4th in the 1st Event.
The February United Church Women meeting in the annex was chaired by Mrs. Veitch with 15 members attending. Reports covered the Presbyterial at Shoal Lake, Official Board election of Mrs. Lindsay, delegates for Hamiota events, and plans for a Variety Concert and cake plate orders.
Rossburn Tom Thumbs season momentum ends with a 5-4 loss to Russell at home after a 3-3 draw with Elphinstone in the 10 and under league. Rossburn scorers were Leonard Smith Lawrence Palmer Brant Boles Henry Bidochka Ryan Shust Milton Drosdoski.
Rossburn Intermediates topped Strathclair 14 to 7 on Saturday. They then beat Angusville at Angusville and defeated Erickson 20 to 7 at Rossburn Arena on Tuesday. A return match with Angusville is set for Saturday at 8 20 p.m. at Rossburn. Rossburn also hosts a game against the Birtle Indian School tonight.
The Rossburn Rural Council met February 11 1964 in the Council Chambers with Reeve Alex Cleland and councillors Morley Brown William Hyra Mike Gawryluk and Joe Dnistransky present. The minutes were confirmed and financial reports for 1963 and January 1964 were considered.
Mr and Mrs Oryniak marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at home on February 8. They wed January 25, 1914 at St Paul and St Peter Church Vista Manitoba. Neighbors gathered to offer congratulations. children Kay Peters Toronto Nellie Pidlubny Winnipeg Anne Chubey Rossburn Alex John Rossburn attended. Mary Jorgen Sen Chicago was absent. guests presented a television set and a card read by Anne.
