Social work service level remains steady Brandon agency says
Bruce Fraser of Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba reports the agency will keep current service levels in 1987/88. Cost cuts totaling 106 775 include delaying salaries six months, reducing two social worker positions, cutting camp programs and a half time volunteer coordinator. Revenue gains from fundraising and new contracts may fund continued operations.

Manitoba Telephone System expands Between Friends to Canada U S with a 13 monthly Canada U S plan and a 6 monthly Manitoba plan for 30 minutes off peak. Extra time costs 20 or 43 cents per minute depending on plan terms. Drury expects over 1800 Manitoba subscribers first year. Between Friends limits by region and removes regular discounts for eligible calls.

World Day of Prayer centennial marked March 6 1987
United Church hosts a global Day of Prayer marking 100 years since the ecumenical movement began in 1887. On March 6 1987 services will be held in 170 countries including 3000 Canadian services at Rossbury United Church. The event emphasizes peace justice and solidarity with immigrant families and supports social service and education projects worldwide.
