Important meeting for Rossburn residents on February 16
A regional analysis meeting will be held at Rossburn Collegiate on February 16 at 7 30 and 8 30 p m. A Traveling Caravan sponsored by the Manitoba Department of Industry and Commerce will present films slides and displays outlining economic transportation and public services data. The program invites local participation in future rural development and urges residents to attend and learn about their communities.

Change In Hours Announced Local Parkland Library Gains In Membership
The Parkland Library reports rising membership now over one hundred with many residents yet to join. Hachkowski wins $300 scholarship for engineering study
Anthony Hachkowski of Strathclair won a $300 scholarship from Pritchard Engineering Co Ltd as a first year mechanical technology student. He placed first in a class of 36 with an 86 average in the first term and is progressing well.

Valerie Parobec, among 58 graduates, completed studies at St Boniface School of Nursing on January 14 1972. Community education initiatives include home handyman courses in Rossburn and Russell interest, Angusville ceramics classes Mondays at 8 p.m., and a Rivers Easter break youth workshop with physical recreation and leadership training. The Rossburn Circle 8s report a busy start to the year with regular square dance evenings and visits to neighboring clubs. On January 29, thirteen dancers traveled to Regence ys and exchanged banners with Guests Ist saw 17. The club anticipates a visit from the Gladstone Guys and Gals as their traveling banner is in possession. On February 4 Newdale square dancers visited and brought their banner to the Rossburn club.

Local Grants Approved Under Federal Scheme
Local Initiatives Program funding will create 62 Manitoba jobs through nine projects. In Rossburn Sacred Heart of Jesus Church receives about $6,000 to finish 1968 construction work including plumbing and heating. Three workers will be hired via the Canada Manpower Centre in Dauphin. The Community Betterment Committee gets about $9,060 to hire five people for United Church and skating curling rink renovations.

Annual bonspiel crowns Oakburn teams in weekend event
A large ladies curling bonspiel at Oakburn drew 14 entries from Hamiota Shoal Lake Birtle Vista Elphin Stone Birdtail and Oakburn. Helen Haney of Birtle skip led the winning rink in the first event and also claimed the Sun Life of Canada trophy donated by Stephen Waytowich.
