In Brandon inquest, held January 28, a jury absolved the drivers of three vehicles involved in the December 5 crash that killed George Harold Beirns, ten miles north of Brandon. A hockey tournament and dance follow on February 6 at Rossburn with music by Dune's orchestra. community members urged attendance to support the boys.
Mrs Chas Brown Calvin and Sheldon spent the weekend in town. Mr and Mrs Glen Smith of Bramlee visited relatives here. Mr and Mrs J S Huston returned midweek from Winnipeg. Mr and Mrs A Andrews and Douglas visited Mr and Mrs Smith Thursday. Wishing a speedy recovery to Ernest Crispin and Richard son in hospital. Community extends sympathy to Mrs Sam Crookshanks family.
Charles Crookshanks 28 son of Mrs S Crookshanks died at General Hospital Winnipeg on Tuesday January 27 after a five year illness. Born at Ranchvale he moved to Rossburn in 1944. Funeral at United Church Rossburn Thursday January 29 conducted by Rev Nixon with Rev Mack assisting. Survived by a widowed mother a brother Adam of Winnipeg and three sisters Nurse Evelyn Barbara Major and Margaret of Rossburn. Pallbearers Eugene Caldwell Sterling Veitch Karl Taylor George Lawless Douglas Cormack Otto Elvers.
Mr. Peter Black visited Portage la Prairie over the past weekend accompanied by his father who is a patient in the local hospital.

Two rinks from Angusville led by J Anderson and Frank Shepherd faced local curlers in Rossburn rink on Friday afternoon. Home side won two games 10 to 5 and 9 to 6 with teams led by Major and Carson securing victories.
Hector Cameron was called to Winnipeg last Tuesday to transfuse blood for his brother Robert after a delicate operation. A lively evening at Mrs. Richardson’s home featured dancing with music by Joe Berehulka Mrs J Gernick and Miss Devin. Ed Collinidge narrowly avoided losing his house when a roof pipe overheated. Janie Orynick of Riding Mountain visited Ekford last weekend. Miss Phyllis Kashin is hospitalized at Shoal Lake. Wish her a speedy recovery. Mrs Albert Wakefield of Rossburn spends the week with her mother Mrs W J Bolton. Friday Feb 13 hosts a gathering at Mr Richardson’s house with lunch for ladies and 25 cents for gents.
Stanley Yanick died after her son Ronnie and daughter Susan visited relatives in Brandon last week.
The Oakburn rink skip Cliff McLeod with teammates Jack MaCanchuk Frank Clearwater and Jack Smith played a one day bonspiel in Rossburn last Thursday. They won their first game then fell to Wilson of Russell in a tight second game. Rossburn curlers praised the Oakburn team's hospitality.
Oakburn rink committee announces the annual carnival to be held Friday evening February 20 at the Oakburn rink. Candidates for carnival queen are Miss Marie Mychalyshyn Miss Rose Zurbyk and Miss Zetta Black.
The Rossburn Hospital Committee acknowledges a donation of 17 dollars 35 cents from Chmelnycki School pupils at Mears Post Office. Pupils collected during Christmas singing in the district and the money will be used to best advantage. Signed J G Stitt Treasurer.
The Crookshanks family expresses deep gratitude for cards of sympathy and floral tributes after Charles's bereavement. Special thanks go to Rev. Nixon, Rev. The Vista Ladies organized a card party at the home of Mrs Stitt as part two of their social event series. Attendees enjoyed games and refreshments in a neighborhood gathering.
A large crowd attended the Friday dance with prizes awarded for the spot dance to Gilber Chesney and Alice Shwa juk. Walter Baker and Morley Brown won the prize for the old-time waltz.

Wilson's rink from Russell won first prize and Pollock's rink from Snoal Leke won second.
