Manitoba sportsmen hear reports at Brandon meet
The Manitoba Federation of Game and Fish Associations held its first 1961 executive meeting at the Prince Edward Hotel in Brandon. Des Whellams retired as provincial president, passing to Charlie Stevenson, with praise for Des and Doreen Whellams. A Manitoba Duck stamp and waterfowl funding were discussed, and deer season hunter success was about 61 percent. Predator hunting by aircraft was debated. the motion to ban it passed amid concerns over balance of nature.
