Local Youths Enjoy Mixed Weather Broomball Night
In Monday nights storm Rossburn residents watched Y P A young players brave the cold to play a lively broomball match, scoring a slightly lopsided win as many brooms broke and noses froze. After the game they enjoyed pork and beans coffee and buns in the club room. A week of curling at the Red Cross Bonspiel brought many rinks and top honors to A J Saley's rink in the Grand Challenge and Dane McIntyre's rink in the Consolation event.

Johnstone Rites Held for V W Johnstone Former Rossburn Resident
The Rossburn United Church funeral honored Victor Weir Johnstone aged 86 who died January 23 in Regina Sask. He born 1863 in Bundorin Ireland and lived in Sherbrooke Carti er Rossburn where he built a hardware store then worked as a clerk. He served as Justice of the Peace for 35 years and led the Rossburn Agricultural Society. Survived by three daughters and a son, ten grandchildren, and siblings. wife predeceased him in 1918.

The funeral of Mrs. John Peden died January 22 1950 was held January 24 1950 from the Rossburn area residence with Pastors Johnstone and Eaton officiating Interment followed at Rossourn cemetery Pallbearers named A L Duncanson H Taylor H Miller Wm Brown Wesley Williamson and Otto Elvers Born Isabelle Halliday in Moffat Scotland April 21 1879 she came to Shoal Lake in 1887 married John Peden June 2 1899 and lived on the same Rossburn area farm since then She was known as a kind helpful neighbor and wife valued by her friends Her husband cared for her in her final weeks Surviving brothers are William Adam Vic Halliday of Vista and Tom of Oakburn Predeceased by four brothers Robert James John and Matt Halliday and sister Helen Halliday.
