The Rossburn Arena hosts the opening hockey game of the 60 61 season with Cardale defending North Central League champions facing the local Intermediates at 8 00 p m. The Intermediates held their third practice Tuesday and Friday night games may bring public skating Saturdays.
Plans are underway for a six team boxing day tournament to be held in Rossburn on December 26, a public holiday in the town. The event gathers local clubs for a day of competitive boxing matches.
A Ukr. Catholic Parish Hall bingo on December 9 sponsored by the Sisterhood concluded with all 20 prizes claimed by parish ladies. Winners included Mrs. Alex Pawluk, Father Lehky, Mrs. John Shmyr, Mrs. Bill Bid, Mrs. W. Perchaluk, Mrs. S. Shust, J. Spilchak, Mrs. B. Sheremata, Mrs. B. Bidochka, Mrs. N. Zemlak, Wm. Kaban, Nes tor Zemliak, Steve Maydanuk, Mrs. J. Bon echuk, Mrs. Wm. Kachan, Alice Antonin, Mrs. Nick Zemlak, Nes tor Zemliak, Mrs. Harry Boychuk, Mrs. Paul Didych. Thanks to all who helped make the bingo a success.
Ernest Choptuik and Margeret Katchin wed at the Greek Catholic Church in Angusville on November 24 1960 at 1 00 pm in a double ring candle ceremony officiated by Rev Ezdel and Rev Romanyshyn. The bride wore a lace gown with a sequin crown veil and carried red artificial roses. The wedding party included bridesmaids Darlene Katchin Helen Derkatch and Phyllis Choptuik Solsgirth. The groom and his party wore black suits with white boutonnieres. A reception followed at the Ukrainian National Home Angusville and another gathering occurred in Solsgirth two days later. The couple will reside in Winnipeg.
The Vista Curling Club opened its winter draw on Monday December 12 with 13 rinks in use. Officers include President Les Hamilton, Secretary Albert Zentner, and directors Edythe Young Veronica Barlow Walter Shwaluk and Cam Halliday. Caretaker Robert Hamilton.
The Lions Club sponsors a free show for children aged four to twelve this Saturday at 2 pm in the Rossburn Theatre. Neighborhood youngsters are especially welcome, and each child will receive a candy bag funded by Rossburn businesspeople.
A heartfelt thanks to Mr. Henry Miller for his donation of the Christmas Tree at the main intersection and to the Hydro men for fixing the festoon and tree lights. Wishing both a very happy Xmas.
The Vista W A held a regular meeting at Mrs H Hamiltons home on Wed Dec 7 with 4 members and 6 visitors. Devotional focused on the Xmas Story led by Mrs Stitt. Roll Call raised a donation to Rossburn Hospital. Santa distributed gifts. a lunch followed. January annual meeting planned at Mrs W J Hamiltons home.
A Xmas Service will be held at Vista United Church on Sunday December 18 at 2 30 p m with special music by the Sunday School. Everyone is welcome.

The Annual Meeting of the Rossburn Dairy and Poultry Co-op was held in the town hall on Monday Dec 5 with about 30 members and guests. John A Plant chaired the session. Officers for 1961 include Mike Sotas president Bill Taylor secretary and directors George Lawless Dave Maxwell Mike Gawryliuk John Plant and John Glushka. Mrs Joyce Maxwell reported on the recent convention and R Usick gave a district progress report. Local manager Hutton spoke on the Creamery and Egg Station project noting a slight decline in cream receipts. A lengthy question and discussion followed.
The Rossburn Review Christmas issue invites greetings from readers. Call the office promptly to reserve space as Saturday night is the deadline and many already have booked.
All men who want to curl this winter should sign up at the rink. Skips with full rinks may list them or give them to Doug Joiner or Jim Olson before Saturday night.
Local Sunday afternoon turnout as a plane owned by S Korolyk of Elphinstone landed behind highway buildings. Accompanying him was Wally Juryk. Local resident Sam Silewich joined for the return trip to Elphinstone.
A discussion period covered local business management and performance sales. Films were shown by Mr. Malon. Lunch was served after the show.
Winter sports begin as the Sports Association forms a hockey club for boys. Only several attended the first practice. High school rinks were drawn up for a Round Robin draw with many students listed in skips and team lines. On Friday morning students posed for colored photos by the Canadian National Photo Studios.
