LGD Lands Discussed At Park Special Meeting

A Park LGD council meeting on November 29 1977 addressed lands held in trust by the Province of Manitoba. The panel reviewed options for LGD lands and planned a follow up meeting. Administrators expenses of 141.60 were approved and 3798.64 in cheques were authorized. A report noted public reserve land misuse with four signs ordered: no hunting no trapping no camping no timber cutting.

Ottawa announces Norcan Development Ltd of Winnipeg has won a 148 900 contract for alterations and an addition to the R C M P detachment in Rossburn Manitoba. Five bids were received. the high bid was 171 803. Work to be completed in four months from award. Christenings for Halliday daughters held at Knox United

Jocelyn Dawn and Jennifer Lynn Halliday were christened December 4 1977 at 1130 a.m. in Knox United Church Rossburn. Rev Jeanne Stright officiated with Linda Young Harry Kawchuk as Jocelyn’s godparents Ruth Kawchuk Lawrence Kostesky for Jennifer. A family dinner followed at the parents home with friends in attendance.

Fatality Due To Exposure In Manitoba Reserve

Rossburn detachment R C M P reports the sudden death of Scottie Seaton age 70 of the Liz ard Point Indian Reserve. The body was found about 4 30 p m Saturday December 3 lying in a ditch near his residence on the Reserve. Death was due to exposure.

Rural Municipality Considers Road Grader Purchase and Feasibility Issues

The Rossburn Municipality council discussed tendering for a new road grader and reviewed sales pitches from machine firms. They planned to meet December 2 to finalize the grader purchase and arranged notes with Princess Auto and Machinery Ltd. to extend purchasing privileges. They also addressed a halfway house feasibility with representatives, a beaver dam on Birdtail River raising flood concerns, and a boundary letter to Municipal Affairs.

Steering Committee Formed to Explore Half-Way House in Rossburn

A preliminary meeting at Rossburn Elementary on November 17 1977 gathered leaders from Waywayseecappo, Rossburn village and RM to discuss the need and feasibility of a half way house. A nine member steering committee chaired by Rev. Stright will investigate viability and financing sources with a first follow up meeting on November 29 1977 at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal Office.

Figure Skating Schedule Across Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays

The schedule lists Monday lessons from 4 08 p m to 6 30 p m for seniors figures beginners basic hi nov novice II and dance with Shoking elementary and dance I sessions. Practice on Wednesday runs 3 00 4 30 p m for seniors figures and 4 30 6 00 p m for everyone else. Friday sessions run 4 00 4 30 p m for seniors figures and 4 30 7 00 p m for everyone else.

Hospital Auxiliary Plans and Fundraising Outlook

The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary held a meeting with 19 members, reporting two fundraisers totaling about 740 dollars. They discussed the Christmas Tea and Bake Sale, a Rural Council Christmas supper, and an upcoming Hospital Christmas Party on December 17. An organizing committee named Colleen Palmer, Linda Lamabe, Diane Cooper and Marie Slon will coordinate the efforts. The next meeting is set for January 24, 1978.
