Rossburn Lions plan paper drive for skating rink addition
The Rossburn Lions Club and Arena Building Committee seek community help with a free paper recycling drive to fund the new Rossburn Community Skating Rink addition. Dry paper only, no wax or plastic content, with pickup for seniors and disabled. depot at the former Beaver Lumber shed. Goal is 20 tons by January 31, 1978, with first drop off December 3, 1977 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the east end of the lumber shed.

Arena Building Committee Reports Progress
The Arena Building Committee met at the arena on November 22. The sound system is nearly complete and should be ready for the new season starting Friday November 25. An expenditure to install fluorescent lights upstairs and downstairs was approved. Dwain Lawless said the Ice Flooding machine arrived and should be ready by November 25. The lunch counter will run again this year with the same five groups volunteering one week each: Senior Hockey Lions Club Minor Hockey Linament Hockey and Figure Skating.

Minor Hockey Meet Forms Combined Teams in Rossburn Area
A well attended Rossburn Minor Hockey meeting at the Rossburn Arena on November 21 set plans for combining Rossburn and Angusville on all age groups except the 12 and under. The Snake Creek Hockey League will host the season with Angusville Rossburn and Shoal Lake forming a 16 and under squad. Art Peck chairs the association with Bob Lonsberry vice president and Dan Shtykalo secretary treasurer. Volunteers for timekeeping or refereeing are urged to contact the executive.

Manitoba hosts the provincial C level volleyball December 2 3 1977 with 22 teams 11 boys 11 girls. Zone 10 C boys team earns spot to represent Zone 10 in Arborg while Riverton hosts girls matches opening ceremonies at 6 30 p m semifinals and finals run December 3 with last year winners Westgate Mennonite Collegiate and Riverton Collegiate.

Safe Driving Week Spot Checks Planned
The Canada Safety Council announces Safe Driving Week from November 30 to December 7. RCMP detachments will conduct vehicle spot checks and safety inspections while urging motorists to adopt safe driving habits year round. A 30 mph limit on Mountain Road or Highway 24 north of Rossburn will be enforced with radar checks and prosecutions for violators.
