Mrs Elizabeth Seaton Died At 79 In Rossburn

Mrs Elizabeth Seaton a long time resident of the Waywayseecappo Indian Reserve died Saturday morning December 3 in Rossburn Hospital. She was 79. The funeral was Monday December 5 at 1 p.m. in the Presbyterian church with Mr T Pollock officiating. Surviving are her husband one son Donald Meeds 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Wm Ross Leslie Longelaws Lynn McKay and Wilfred Bone.

Matilda Orniak Speaks On World Youth Festival Visit

Matilda Orniak addressed the Friday meeting describing her summer trip to the Sth World Youth Festival in Warsaw Poland. She, a youth conference delegate, spoke of 30 000 attendees from 114 countries including 52 Canadians, concerts, sports, films, and a peace theme. Dr. O'Brien Ossburn pioneer doctor died Monday.

The Fire Prevention Bureau warns guests in hotels and motels about smoking in bed. The card urges informing desk of remains, leaving a will with the clerk, checking insurance, notifying neighbors, sharing your plan to endanger lives, marking fire exits, keeping a fire extinguisher handy, and calling the local fire department to stand by for a room fire alarm.

Wedding of Gwen Elizabeth Bell and Henry Dwyer Bell

A double ring wedding was held December 3 at the home of Mr and Mrs Walter Snider in Rossburn. Gwen Elizabeth Bell wed Henry Dwyer Bell with Rev Roset officiating. The couple planned to reside in Winnipeg Elsonore Apts. Maryland St. Attendants were Jean Armstrong and Robert Mansfield. A buffet luncheon followed.

Rossburn Crop Improvement Club annual meeting held

The Rossburn Crop Improvement Club held its annual meeting on Tuesday evening with small attendance. Officers elected included President Ed Shust Viet Pree 5e Harris Huston John Mitchell and Mr Vincent Polloway spoke on club activities and needed members. A Dept of Extension Service engineer discussed tillage equipment trash cover and wild oats control with slides. The editor hopes farmers do not read this as a sign that they should ignore improved farming methods.

Mr Ed Harris Heads to Victoria for Long Awaited Visit

Ed Harris left Thursday morning to visit his sister Mrs R Mansergh in Victoria B C. Bill Mitchell will operate the livery barn in his absence. Ed bids friends Seasons Greetings on his first major trip in 50 years aside from WWI. Andrew Antonin, once a Brandon Hospital patient, is much improved and expects home this weekend.

Shower Honors Gwen Snider in United Church Annex

A miscellaneous shower for Gwen Snider was held Friday December 2 in the United Church Annex with over 40 ladies attending. Corsages were given to Gwen and two organizers. Gwen was seated in a decorated chair as Jean Armstrong read the address. Gwen thanked guests after opening gifts and a lunch followed.

Members of Rossburn Pool Elevator Association received dividend cheques this week totaling 12706 dollars. With finances tight, the payments were a welcome relief to the farmers involved.

A R M A A meeting in the municipal office on December 5 set season terms for Intermediate Hockey with a 60 40 split between club and rink. Tickets priced 2 3 and 8 dollars for skating, season passes due, hockey opening tournament kept with a January 13 cancellation noted.
