The marriage of Margie Dnistransky daughter of Mrs A Dnistransky and the late Mr Alex Dnistransky of Oshawa to Tony Skavinski eldest son of Mr and Mrs Joe Skavinski of Oakburn Ontario was held at the Roman Catholic church in Oakburn on Tuesday November 15 at 5 pm. Rev Cieply officiated. A reception followed at the Ukrainian National Home. The couple will reside in Oakburn.
A miscellaneous shower at the Ukrainian National Home on November 13 honored bride elect Margie Dnistian sky of November 15. Guests, including aunt Mia and the groom's mother Mrs Joe Skavinski, presented corsages and gifts while hostesses served a lunch.
Mrs Stanley Korolyk, 70, of Rossburn died at home on Sunday December 11. Born June 5 1885 in West Ukraine, she resided 55 years in Rossburn municipality. Funeral from Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church with burial in Orthodox cemetery Rae's Funeral Home Shoal Lake handled arrangements.
A group of ladies visited Mr and Mrs Maurice Michelchuk on Sunday night to celebrate the infant son Barney. Mrs Michelchuk accepted a purse of money and a baby gift. The evening featured games and a lunch.
Brandon couple Arthur and spouse welcomed a son on December 13. John Herchak and wife of Rossburn welcomed a daughter on December 7. Martin Lepischak and wife of Rossburn welcomed a daughter on December 11.

On Sunday December 18 VISTA invites residents to bring gifts for distribution to Winnipeg’s needy. District participants attended a Rossburn Short Course last Wednesday run by the extension service. Adam Halliday has returned from South Africa and now works in Michigan USA. Bob Martin, a longtime resident, was laid to rest in Strathclair last Thursday.
Rossburn report notes a midweek agricultural short course for men with about 35 present for both afternoon and evening sessions. Prof Seal of the University of Manitoba discussed livestock culling and selection emphasizing weight over show appeal and modern methods. H Tolton spoke on soils and a crop rotation plan with fertilizer use. W Stonehouse introduced speakers.
George Murdock Bolton born August 10, 1869 in Petrola Ontario, moved to Manitoba with his parents at 18, farmed Kelloe, married Ida Sherritt in 1894, moved to Rossburn in 1905, worked 18 years for Northern Elevator Co. Survived by wife Ida, two daughters Elfreda MacNeill and Eva Rossong, two grandsons, three grandsons and two great granddaughters, with a son and another daughter predeceasing him. Funeral held at United Church December 8 with Rev I Roset. Interment Rossburn Cemetery.
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met Saturday afternoon with all members present chaired by Reeve Shust. One Old Age assistance application was approved and a by law cancelling certain taxes on community halls was passed. Road rentals were approved and bills paid before adjournment.
The December 7 Short Course for Women drew 25 attendees in the afternoon and over 30 at night. Miss Hamilton of Shoal Lake and Miss Rollette of Neepawa gave talks on home freezing uses tin foil Christmas decorating and color in home. Three films were shown Beauty and the Bride Seven Wonders of Wool and Uses of Electrical Appliances in the Home.
Mrs Teeni Qsadee of Merritor Ontario has been visiting with her parents Mr and Mrs Wasyl Sidlar and will return to Ontario at the end of December.
The death of Metro Lepischak at age 89 was reported in Rossburn Municipality. Born in Poland on November 8, 1866, he resided in the area for 48 years. Funeral services were held December 12 at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church with burial in the local cemetery. Pallbearers included Mike Borowski, Phillip Tomiski, Sam Pachkowski, Stan Leschyshyn, Joe Borowski, and Pete Raginski. He is survived by his wife Mary, three sons Martin, Stanley, Joe, and four daughters Alice, Kay, Elizabeth, Winnie and other relatives.
The Snooker tournament concluded Friday at Nick Chopp's pool hall with Billy Joiner defeating Howard McIntosh in the final. Semifinalists included Wally Perchaluk Melvin Charney and Orest Smyeniuk. Wally Tokar won the Consolation Event over Bill Antonyshyn with further semifinals featuring Maurice Chomica.

Rossburn Women s Institute held its December meeting on Tuesday December 6 with an exchange of Xmas gifts and donations to Deer Lodge Hospital. Officers for 1956 were elected led by President Mrs Jack Stitt and plans for 56 were announced with new members welcome.
Harry Werbowski received an electric mix master after meeting sales quota at the Imperial Oil dealers convention in Brandon. A winter scene comment and local anecdotes follow about curious perceptions of approaching vans and stoves during heavy snow. Turkey Trail remains blocked all week due to drifting. mail continues by truck where possible. School News is absent this week and a local scout reports Dan Kier’s attempt at a record last Friday, described as efforts to ease exams.
