Rossburn Agricultural Society Holds Annual Meeting

The Rossburn Agricultural Society met with few members and decided to continue the annual Fair for 1966 on July 19. The New Year’s Eve dance will be supported by the society. The executive was reappointed with L. C. Johnston as President and Mrs. E. Brown as Secretary Treasurer.

Berlas Celebrate 48th Wedding Anniversary in Hamilton

Mr and Mrs Nick Berla celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on November 21 at the home of Mr and Mrs Jim Panopoulos in Hamilton Ontario. Master of ceremonies was Mike Smycnuik. Guests included Dr and Mrs J Pylypuik and numerous families. The couple received many gifts and thanks were given for the gathering.

The Rossburn Ladies Curling Club held an organizational meeting Monday with a pot luck supper in the curling rink. Couple Farewelled By Vista Community

A Vista community gathering at Walter and Sylvia Shwatuk’s home bid farewell to Mike and Anne Shwatuk as they leave for Oakburn. Wilfred Chegwin gave the farewell address and Net tie Hrysak and Dorothy Chegwin presented gifts. Couples thanked guests and invited visits to their new home. A dainty lunch followed.

Jackpot Bingo Winners at Ukrainian Catholic Event

The regular Wednesday evening Jackpot Bingo hosted by the Ukrainian Catholic Church building committee awarded $3 games to numerous players including Mrs N Clubley Matt Antonychyn Matt Sidlar Matt Pok rapany Frank Zegalski John Collins Melvin Charney and others. Elizabeth Elaine Glushka and Adolph Edward Melnyk wed at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rossburn in a double ring ceremony conducted by Rev. Father John Lehky. The bride wore a white chiffon velvet gown with lace details and a flowing watteau train, and carried a cascade bouquet. maid of honor Sonya Glushka and bridesmaids Jean Glushka and Myra Trakalo wore Windsor blue gowns. Best man Matt Melnyk and ushers Allan Horobec and Mervin Sabeski attended. Mothers wore navy and turquoise outfits with white roses as corsages. A reception followed at the Rossburn Town Hall.

Major paving program announced for Manitoba in 1966

Manitoba will undertake a major paving program in 1966 to finish paving all trunk highways south of the Trans Canada and most east of the Red River excluding 29 miles of No 15 east from Brokenhead River. Several trunk highways will be paved and dust control experiments to improve provincial roads will continue.

Snowy countryside yields to milder weather this week

Last week brought heavy snowfall and sub zero nights. The countryside looked Christmas like but milder temperatures prevailed this week. West winds warmed gradually to above freezing by Thursday, ending the colder spell.

A farewell party was held on November 25 in Valerie Carson's honor with a desk lamp presented by her school friends. The Rossburn Junior High girls volleyball team travels to Russell on December 11 for a tournament as exams begin December 1.
