Rossburn Pioneer Dmetro Yarmey Dies at 90
Dmetro Yarmey, a Rossburn area pioneer born in Horoshwa Ukraine, died suddenly November 5 at age 90. He came to Canada in 1899, settled near Rossburn, and retired to the village in 1945. He is survived by his wife, two sons in Toronto, five daughters in Detroit Vancouver and Toronto, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Prayers were held November 9 and funeral services followed at the United Church with pallbearers named. Raginski Funeral Home of Oakburn arranged the service.

About 150 Lions, wives and guests attended the Rossburn Lions Club birthday gala in the Town Hall. Erickson and Rossburn members joined from Birtle Shoal Lake Oakburn Angusville Foxwarren with dancers from the Lansburn Lamplighters providing music after a banquet by St. Theresa R C Church. New members were inducted and multiple attendance awards were presented by Deputy District Governor G Johnson.

Christmas meeting of Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary
The Rossburn Hospital Auxiliary held a Christmas gathering at Barbara Fink’s home with 24 members present. Minutes were adopted, a Winnipeg Conference report given, Saucepan Silhouette income noted at $17.54, and plans discussed for the December 4 Bazaar. A Drama Club update showed progress and a $50 request for play expenses. The next meeting will be at Jessie Willett’s in January.

Farewell Given to Local Couple Before Move to Esterhazy
A large crowd gathered at the Rossburn United Church Annex on Wednesday evening to say farewell to Mr and Mrs Jim Carson who plan to move to Esterhazy Saskatchewan. Orest Smyczynik presided, featuring a sing song and vocal selections by Mrs Ed Lussier with Wendell Cleland on piano. Harry Aylwin gave a farewell address and Wyn McFeeters presented a purse from the community. Jim and Grace Carson thanked attendees, and a lunch followed.
