The Rossburn United Church Women’s Missionary Society held a tea and sale of home cooking in the church annex Saturday evening. Net proceeds totaled about 342 dollars. The WMS expresses sincere appreciation to helpers and donors.

Funeral Rites for Mrs Collingridge Held at Ekford
The death of Mrs Mary Elsie Collingridge 73 occurred August 7 at Erickson Hospital after 18 months illness. Funeral service August 20 at Ekford Presbyterian Church with Mr. Pollock officiating. Interment in Rossburn cemetery. She left a large family including three sons Wilbert Edmund and others and several daughters. Rae's Funeral Home of Shoal Lake assisted arrangements.

Elementary School Opens in Rossburn Rossburn
The Rossburn consolidated district opened its elementary section on Tuesday morning August 26 marking the first day children were brought to the new school. Campers Association Demands To Retain Clear Lake Site
In a large gathering at Clear Lake on Sunday August 17, the Campers Association endorsed a brief urging the park department to keep the current site for permanent campers. The seven proposed improvements include dust control, optional electrification, pruning of undergrowth, new piers and steps, better kitchens and garbage systems, and expanded toilets and sanitation. The group emphasizes current tenancy and urges expansion without moving the location.

Shower In Honor Of Helen Luba
A miscellaneous shower was held in the Annex of the Ukrainian Hall on Saturday evening August 23 in honor of Miss Helen Luba RN of Brandon bride elect for October 4. She arrived to greetings from family and friends, received corsages, and gifts were displayed on a decorated wagon TV set. Funeral Service for Birtle Resident Char les Bartram
Funeral services were held Saturday at the Birtle United Church for Charles Thomas Bartram who died August 12 at Brandon General Hospital at age 72. Rev. Whetter officiated with graveside rites in Birtle cemetery. Bartram, born January 4, 1886 in South Shields England, came to Canada in 1911 and lived in the Rossburn and Angusville districts before returning to Birtle in 1949 with his wife Lucy Ann Berks. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary this summer. Survivors include wife Lucy Ann four sons David Charles Jack and Edward five daughters Jenny Isabella Winnifred Mae Doris and Ruby, 25 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
