Parkland Harvest Festival Despite Weather And Attendance

Festival seen mixed results with about 500 fewer gate attendees due to cold wet Saturday. Friday and Sunday sun helped. parade drew 48 entries. street bingo paid, cabarets popular, and pork barbeque hampered by rain while beef barbeque fed about 350. Hamiota Junior Red Sox beat Rossburn Rangers 13 to 0 in baseball.

Mutton Busting Draws Kids At Parkland Harvest Festival

At the Parkland Harvest Festival on Saturday a mutton busting event for children under six drew a small field with a few riders including a girl featured in the photo. Sunday’s rodeo drew a warmer, busier crowd despite sparse Saturday attendance.

Local girl crowned 1983 Festival Queen at Parkland Harvest

Sophie Didych daughter of Walter and Stella Didych was crowned Queen of the Parkland Harvest Festival before a Rossburn crowd. First runner up Eugenia Yanick Oakburn. second runner up Cindy Young Vista. Sophie, entering Grade 9, represented Rossburn Elementary. A Shoal Lake resident, Leonard Rupa won the $100 ticket raffle. $50 went to Lynda Hnatiuk Oakburn and $25 to Brent Maryniuk Winnipeg.
