Bride Elect Honored At Shower In Ukrainian Home
A shower on August 21 honored Lesia Chopp, bride elect for September 3, at the Ukrainian National Home. Sixty two ladies signed the guest book as Miss Nadya Nahirniak played accordion. Attendees included Lesia’s mother Mrs. N. Chopp and relatives. The program featured scenes from Lesia’s life and a humorous address.

Fire destroys St Marys Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manitoba
A lightning strike Friday afternoon completely destroyed St Marys Ukrainian Catholic Church on Mountain Road near Erickson Manitoba. The 120 by 100 foot wooden cross shaped church stood 128 feet tall with 17 doors and over 40 wooden columns. It seated about 400 on the main floor plus 1000 standing, with galleries for 500. Fire brigades from Neepawa and Erickson faced long water haul over soft roads, delaying response.
