Grub Control and Water Well Grants Aid Cattle Farms
The Russell Livestock Improvement Association sponsors a grub control program with bulk Ruelene orders to secure discounts and designate pickup points. New participants may order via directors or the Russell Agricultural Office. PFRA offers free technical help and grants up to 550 for farm wells, based on items like casing, fittings, and development. Water quality notes warn salts and sulfates in northwest Manitoba wells can cause poor gains in cattle, with salts level impacting safety more than composition.

It suggests using water with less than 100 ppm, and states few local samples meet that level. Analysis is performed by Rural Water Services Branch, Manitoba Department of Agriculture.
