Rossburn Council conducts August meeting and revisions
The Village of Rossburn held a Court of Revision to update the 1962 electors list with all members present. Mayor Stitt presided and the list was adopted after review. A Special Court of Revision considered a 20 year Waterworks and Sewage system assessment, with ratepayers heard and assessment sustained. The council discussed minutes, financials through July 31, 1962, deputy hire for weekends, medical aid for Mike Dady, a transfer of land without a survey, and building permits for Michael Chomica. By-Laws 344 to 346 related to local improvement districts and waterworks and sewage systems were read and advanced. Orest Smyeniuk was appointed Poll Clerk for By-Law 345, a ratepayer meeting was scheduled for Sept 12, 1962, bills totaling $1,132.85 were approved, and the council adjourned to Sept 18, 1962.

Honoree Mary Strong, age 81, attended with children, grandchildren and a great grandchild, marking the first reunion in 11 years. Attendees included Smith relatives from Welland Ontario, Winnipeg, Swan Lake, Plumas, Shoal Lake, Rebeek, Virden, Rossburn, Edmonton, and other communities, with grandchildren reportedly unable to attend.

Fred Kloon a longtime Lakedale district farmer and Ukrainian immigrant from 1874 born in the Ukraine died August 2 at his residence after a lengthy illness at age 88 years 4 months and 29 days He arrived in Canada in 1911 with his wife and three children and settled on a farm in Manitoba After retiring nine years ago he moved to his son Sam's farm in Angusville He is survived by his wife Annie three sons Michael of Detroit Sam of Toronto Nick of Angusville two daughters Mrs Mary Pentiliuk Windsor Ont and Mrs Kay Rogers Lambeth Ont one granddaughter Marianna Rogers two grandsons Freddie Rogers and Garry Kloon One son Peter predeceased him in 1931 Prayers were held August 5 at the Ukrainian People's Home and the funeral was at Lakedale Church Interment was in Lakedale Cemetery Braendle's Funeral Home handled arrangements Pallbearers were Matt Senko Nick Boroskiewich Bill Senko Metro Zink Lawrence Parabec and Adam Sidoryk Out-of-town mourners included son Sam Kloon Toronto Ont daughter Mrs Kay Rogers and grandchildren Marianna and Freddie Rogers from Lambeth Ont A large crowd attended services from Angusville and surrounding districts.
