William Shaw of Rossburn died suddenly at his home on August 10 from a heart attack. Born July 10 1897 at Shoal Lake, he moved with his parents to a farm near Vista. He married Melinda Cameron in 1921 and is survived by his widow and four children. Funeral held Friday at Rossburn United Church with interment in Rossburn Cemetery. He was a respected farmer and member of Argyle Presbyterian Church. Card of Thanks from Mrs Shaw and family.

Rev. Michael Koltutsky and Mrs Koltutsky of Easton Pa visited the Melnyk family in Oakburn over the weekend. On August 8 Father Koltutsky celebrated Mass at Holy Eucharist Church. A family reunion followed at the Holubitsky home with relatives including J Krysowaty Stephen Melnyk Peter Melyniak and others. A social gathering in the Parish hall welcomed Father Kolinsky and family with Father J Fornalchuk as master of ceremonies.
Babe Ruth dies in New York after a battle with cancer. The legendary slugger held the then unbroken record of 60 home runs in 1927 and owned multiple enduring marks in baseball. He was 53 years old.
Mr. Wm. Young, a well known ista farmer, died Tuesday August 10th and was laid to rest in Argyle cemetery. The Vista United Church service was led by Rev. Vincent of Silverton. Surviving: wife, two sons John Ninette and Robert at home, sister Mrs. Hogg Winnipeg. Preceded in death by daughter Isabelle McLaren Myrtle. Pallbearers: A. Miller D. McDonald Wm. Armstrong W. H. Halliday A. Forde W. J. Hamilton.
