Walter Pushka owns a 15 year old cow that has given birth to seven sets of twins, all heifers. The first twins arrived when the cow was three, making a notably fair and profitable record for the farmer amid modern production pace.
The travelling X Ray Clinic drew 755 people in Silver Creek and 1696 in Rossburn areas, covering Silverton Fat Angusville and Valley Rossburn Olha Vista, but far more residents did not participate. The VIllage council thanks volunteers for assisting the survey effort.
The Rossburn United Church hosted the July ceremony for Helena Rubeniuk and Metro Zink in a double ring service officiated by Pastor T Ferguson. The couple from Angusville honeymooned in Winnipeg Toronto Niagara Falls Windsor and U.S.A. after a reception at Angusville Ukrainian Hall.
A June 28 shower at the Ukrainian National Home honored Miss Helen Lazaruk. Pink and white decorations adorned the hall as she was escorted to a decorated chair by Misses Marie Maryniuk and Nadine Gor shok to the Bridal Chorus. Her mother Mrs Steve Lazaruk and the groom’s mother Mrs F Gaw huk of Elphinstone sat nearby while gifts flowed in. Helen thanked guests before the group sang For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow and a luncheon was served to about 125 attendees.
Thieves robbed the Cockshutt Farm Equipment Building in Rossburn owned by William Kachan after midnight on August 5. A rear window was forced and nails removed to gain entry. a portable gramophone was stolen while watches and other valuables remained untouched. R.C.M.P. are investigating.
Hon. Stuart Garson minister of justice was re elected as Liberal member for Marquette in the federal election on August 10. He was returned with a very large majority. Poll results by constituency will be published next week.
Mrs. Cliff Hamilton of Birdtail won first prize with 97 points for the best cream can shipped on competition day. P. S. Pushka of Selsgirth took second with 96.9 points, followed by Mrs. F. Kalynnik of Angusville 96.8 and Alfred Mitchell 96.6. Stan Bereza and J. Ryszytylo tied for fifth with 96.5. Judges Albert Oullette of Winnipeg and George Bell of Neepawa represented the Dairy Department. prize cards were displayed at the Rossburn Fair.
About 1,000 cadets from Manitoba Saskatchewan and north western Ontario train at Dundurn Saskatchewan this month with 54 percent slated to finish August 20. The group studies driving and maintenance using a cutaway tractor to illustrate engine workings. Mrs. Wilfred Miller of Vista is a patient in King George Hospital Winnipeg with polio. One leg is paralyzed. Miss Mildred Zink of Angusville is a patient in Brandon General Hospital with polio. Community friends extend best wishes for speedy recovery.
The notice explains polio symptoms including fever neck stiffness and possible paralysis. It urges strong immunity through healthy eating rest and warmth, warns against crowds and cold water, and advises immediate medical contact if symptoms appear. It emphasizes that asymptomatic carriers can spread infection to others with low resistance.
The Daily Vacation Bible School at the Pentecostal Church drew over 50 children enrolled. Two outside teachers Miss Marjorie Komarinski and Pastor John Coughlan of Hamiota assisted local teachers Mrs. R. J. Barclay and Joyce Mitchell. The week concluded with an achievement program.
A Civic Holiday is declared for Monday afternoon August 17 with business houses closing at noon to allow merchants to attend the Caterer's Picnic at Silver Beach sponsored by the Retail Merchants' Association. Attendees are advised to bring their own lunch while tea and coffee are provided.
