Doctor Shortage Frustrates Rural Hospital Needs
Public concern rises as weeks pass without a doctor to fill the vacancy left by Dr. J. Layng. Residents say the 20 bed hospital cannot admit patients and travelers must seek care in Shoal Lake or Russell. Rural ratepayers and council members urge action, fearing life threatening delays and consider a rural meeting to press the issue. The Hospital Board has several inquiries, but no firm resolution as yet.

Rossburn Council Meeting Minutes August 9 1960
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn held a council meeting August 9 with Reeve M J Sotas and councillors Morley Brown William Hyra Mike Pawluk and Mike Baubie present. The finance report for July 1960 was adopted and a Birtle Shoal Lake Lab X ray Unit agreement approved. By law 844 was cancelled and land title sought for Tax Sale Certificate 3. Bills totaling 6339 77 were passed. The session adjourned to September 13. A ministerial order granted a special East of Sections project funding.
