Rossman Lake golf event draws 28 couples in Two Ball Fourball
Rossburn Golf Club hosted a Sunday Two-Ball Fourball at Rossman Lake Golf Course. Twenty eight couples participated, up from twelve last year. Championship winners were Doug and Eunice Gill of Rivers with 80, followed by Otto and Emma Eivers of Rossburn at 82 and Ernie McLean with Irene Parker of Strathclair at 83.

Cottonwood trees reintroduced for Russell district farming
The PFRA Tree Nursery announced on August 9 that Cottonwood trees will be available to farmers in the Russell Agricultural Representative District in 1979. Cottonwood grows to about 60 feet and 60 year life, ideal for shelterbelts. To apply, contact the PFRA Tree Nursery in Indian Head or the Russell Agricultural Representative office.

Rossburn Lions donate 10000 to land for Health Unit
At the June meeting the Rossburn Lions Club approved a 10000 donation from community services funds to secure serviced land for a proposed Health Care Unit and Personal Care Home in Rossburn. The property lies south of Victoria Avenue behind the Ukrainian Catholic Church as outlined. Alex Cleland, chair of the Rossburn District Hospital Board, accepted the cheque from Lions Club president Miron Swintak. present were Avis Stitt Rossburn Hospital administrator and Rick Plaisier Rossburn mayor and Lions Zone Chairman.

Warm, dry weather again favored the long holiday weekend as lakes regained popularity after a cooler spell. Crops ripened faster with the uptick in temperatures and sunny conditions compared with last year’s similar period.

The Honorable Judd Buchanan announced that Hoffman Construction Ltd of Minnedosa Manitoba won a 163759 contract to alter and add to the RCMP Detachment Building at Wasagaming Manitoba. Bids responded to public advertisement with the high bid 176580. The work includes a one storey wood frame and masonry veneer addition and interior refinishing wall relocations and conversion of offices into cell blocks.
