Rossburns Annual Big Event Parkland Harvest Festival Weekend

The Parkland Harvest Festival weekend offers a town hall music night, Manitoba Sand Greens Golf Championship with multi flight formats, a downtown parade with floats from Rossburn Elementary assembly point 9 00 a m, fair exhibits, senior and open baseball tournaments, gymkhana events, handicrafts art and antiques display, and a Market Gardens feature on the grounds with no booth charge.

Hole in One at Rossman Lake by TD Bank Golfer

Jim Kilmister of the Toronto Dominion bank staff made a hole in one on the 132nd 2nd Hole with a 9 iron Tuesday evening at Rossman Lake golf course. Witnesses Doug Joiner Tom Orr and Wm Silewich, fellow foursome members, observed the shot.

Rossburn R M Council Holds Regular July Meeting

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn held its regular session on July 10 at 1 p.m. in Rossburn Village with Reeve John Mitchell presiding. The council unanimously adopted June 12 minutes, received the Auditor's December 1972 financial statement, and approved several joint projects and payments.

Angusville Cardinals win at Gilbert Plains tournament

The Angusville Cardinals continued strong in the North Western tournament defeating Grandview 3-1 led by pitcher Rusty Shaw. In the final they edged Neepawa 6-5 with win credited to Bob Chuchmuch and homer heroes Corné Chuchmuch and Barry Wowk.

Rossburn Village Council approves 1973 agenda items and actions

Rossburn Village Council met July 11 1973 presided by Mayor Louis Kurchaba with six members present. The council adopted the June 14 1973 minutes and approved multiple measures including enlarging Local Improvement District for sewer and water, negotiating a government loan, renting the former Telephone Building to Peter Kreshewski for one year, supporting a road through Riding Mountain National Park, paving King Avenue, paying the gravel checker $2 per hour, inspecting plan of survey for skating rink area, setting Tax Sale date for Sept 28 1973, adopting June 1973 utility report, exploring cooperative housing, pursuing a building permit for Robert Pritchard, authorizing Manitoba Hydro street lighting changes, approving certified accounts totaling 13 037 75, and adjourning to Aug 16 1973 at 7 00 p.m.

Pelly Trail School Division approves Small Schools Project

The Pelly Trail School Division board met on June 5, 19, and July 20 approving staff hires for the next year. A division librarian will lead work started in the Major Pratt library and a half time para professional staff will be added at Oakburn and Angusville. The Department of Education backs a two year Small Schools Project with full funding and an additional field worker, while Rural Mechanics was not approved. Staffing for fall is nearly complete, with one Special Education and one Industrial Arts teacher pending.
