M.L.A. Harry Graham says the Minister of Highways assures Rossburn residents will not be neglected. Construction on P.R. 254 is planned this year and an asphalt surface treatment from Rossburn to Rossman Lake will be carried out.
The Rossburn Leo Club was chartered Sunday April 16 at 2 00 p m in Rossburn Manitoba with over 100 attendees. Governor Marc Marcino inducted 16 charter members while Lions Club members and area Lions sent greetings. A April 24 meeting at Rossburn Elementary began preparations for the 1978 baseball season amid coaching needs.
The Rossburn Silver Creek Recreation District secured a 12404 grant to fund wages for three university students and five to six high school students. Students should register with Student Manpower in Brandon and obtain forms in Rossburn or Angusville by April 25 26 1978, returning them to Brandon promptly. Angvusville ladies sign up for a fitness program by April 28 1978 with first class May 1978. Swimming lessons at Rossman Lake run July 17 28 1978 with future registration details to follow.
Warmer temperatures have brought a springlike feel with daytime highs rising through the week. Brisk winds persisted early in the week as readings ranged from the mid forties to mid fifties with a few upper fifties. comparisons note last year’s highs near 65 and lows around 22.
A March 21 banquet in a community hall basement celebrated a wind up for local youth hockey. Players from Rossburn Gusville Oakburn and Lake attended with coaches and parents. Trophies went to MVPs Scott Sidoryk Angusville 8 and Under Stephan Klym Angusville 10 and Under Joey Seaton Rossburn 12 and Under Brad Lonsberry Rossburn 14 and under Kevin Hedley Rossburn 16 and Under.
The April 13 1978 Rossburn council meeting endorsed the Rossburn Regional Library third annual report commended library staff and approved continued police service funding with a per capita cost set at 21 751 for 1978 79. The village notes a grant cut from 19 40 to 17 75 per capita and proposes a one mill levy to offset the revenue loss.
The Ukrainian Festival Choir of Dauphin performs in Rossburn Manitoba on Sunday May 7 1978 at 8 PM. The program blends Ukrainian songs with a four part traditional wedding ceremony including Matchmaking Engagement Marriage and Wedding along with additional variety.
