The municipality lists 1974 and 1975 rates for machine rental and farm tractors. Summer machine rent is 12.85 per hour, winter 13.80 per hour, with plow and wing 19.80 per hour and a minimum 5.00. Tractor use rates are 0.08 per HP hour in summer and 0.10 per HP hour in winter, plus 2.00 per hour if bucket or blade is used, with work requiring councillor authorization. Building permits are required for construction or removal of buildings.
Rev. Murray Carter missionary to North India spoke at Knox United Church and Waywayseecappa Presbyterian Church in Rossburn describing Evangelical Alliance Mission work in New Delhi. He noted the agency sponsors 1,000 missionaries across 23 world areas in evangelism education medicine and translation.
Ukrainian Catholic Women's League hosts a cash Bingo on Friday April 25 at 8 p.m. in Oakburn Parish Hall with 15 games at $1 per lap card and two $25 cash blackout prizes. Rossburn Christian Youth schedules a Youth Rally Saturday April 26 at 4 p.m. in RCI gym followed by supper at 5:30 p.m. in United Church basement featuring the New Way Singers and the film Blood on the Mountain. Admission is $1.00.
The New Way Singers present a sacred music concert at Rossburn United Church on Sunday morning, April 27 at 11 a.m. A Rossburn Lions Club jackpot BINGO follows on Wednesday, April 30 at 8 p.m. in the town hall basement. First jackpot $190 in 53 numbers and second jackpot $150 in 54 numbers.
A Bingo and Bake Sale is set for Thursday May 1 at 8:00 p.m. in the Ukrainian Catholic Church basement in Angusville. The event offers 20 games with a one dollar lap card and extra cards at 3 for five cents.
Brandon University offers a third year geography course Resource Conservation in Rossburn taught by Dr. Dey. Course 392 requires no prerequisites and currently has 21 students from Roblin Russell Binscarth Sandy Lake Elphinstone and Rossburn with space available. Contact Rick Plaisier for details.
At the annual banquet and dance on Saturday April 26th the most popular Hornets player will be selected by attendees using back of ticket ballots for 1st 2nd and 3rd place. The team members will choose the most valuable player.
On Saturday April 13 1975 Ernest and family surprised Mrs Tekla Citulsk sky with a 70th birthday party at Rivers Hall. Six children twelve grandchildren and one great grandson attended. Gifts included a diamond birthstone necklace and a yellow carnation corsage. Mrs Citul sky active in Ukrainian church and community. cross stitch art noted.
The Knox United Church in Rossburn plans an official opening and dedication on May 18 with two services. At 11 a.m. the Rosenort Youth Choir will present sacred music directed by Walter Dueck with soloist Gerald R. Brown of Winnipeg. At 3 p.m. a Dedication Service led by Birtle Presbytery will feature Rev. Peter Ruddell and Rev. Ray Smith as speakers. The 3 p.m. service marks joint representation of Presbyterian and United Church presbyteries. A pot-luck lunch follows the morning service and a coffee hour after the afternoon service. The Anniversary Celebration Committee invites former ministers their wives, former members and friends, and Rossburn neighbors to attend.
Ten year old players from Angusville earned their fourth trophy of the season at the Virden 10 and under hockey tournament. The team beat Oak Lake 8 2 and Virden Oil Kings 8 1 after routing Virden Farmers 3 2 in the morning, advancing to the B division final. Coaches Clarence Klimack and Clifford Gray were thanked along with four Russell boys for their guidance.
A local committee in Rossburn plans a Meals on Wheels program to deliver nourishing meals to residents at a nominal charge. Meals will be provided Monday Wednesday and Friday around noon, with volunteers recruited for delivery and ovens set up in the community.
Eugene Whelan federal Minister of Agriculture will speak at a public meeting in Minnedosa on Saturday April 26 at the Collegiate Auditorium from 2:00 to 3:30. He will discuss several agricultural topics and take audience questions. The event is open to all with no admission fee.
