Rossburn council approves grants and deters new facilities plan
The Village of Rossburn held its April 10 1975 meeting approving several items. The council adopted March minutes, funded a 200 seat hall upgrade, investigated a copier for the hall, and accepted a 50 50 Nashua copier rental with Rural Municipality of Rossburn. It received 960 from Manitoba Ambulance Grant for ambulance purchase, approved RCMP policing from 1 April 1975 to 1 April 1976, and sought Hydro and Sitko input on service and rate increases. deputy fire chief Doug Joiner authorized to attend Bois Sevain Fire School. A 1000 grant to the Recreation Commission was approved and the library budget accepted. The council rejected Manitoba’s 50 capital cost offer for detention facilities as unsatisfactory, offered 5 percent plus land, and requested urgent reply as facilities are condemned. Accounts were approved for payment and meetings set for May 9.

The Snowmobile Poker Derby held Sunday at Angusville drew strong turnout with 173 hands completed. Top finishers included Vern Chuchmuch first and Dick Nychuk second, both of Angusville, with Sherry Wilson third and a field of eight place getters led by locals and Calgary entrant Darlene Martin. A special thanks was extended to Mike Hersack for donating gas and oil to all participants.
