Personal Care Home Planning for Rossburn

The Rossburn community advances a health plan after 1973 recognizing the need for a personal care home. A joint planning effort led to a formal program under the District Health System with approval in principle from Manitoba Health Services Commission. The plan envisions 17 acute care beds and 20 personal care beds plus related services as the community’s total health facility.

Remarkably Mild Weather Continues

A lengthy mild dry spell persisted through the past week with no measurable moisture in the first half of April, continuing unusually dry and warm conditions for the period.

Break-in at Rossburn Collegiate Investigated

A break-in occurred Friday night at Rossburn Collegiate. Intruders smashed the northwest auditorium entrance window causing over $200 in damage and damaging the secretary’s office door. total damage about $350. No items were stolen. Rossburn RCMP detachment are investigating the incident reported Saturday morning by the custodian.

Tragic Drowning Claims Life of Local Boy David Konyk

The Rossburn Detachment reported the drowning death of David Allen Konyk born May 16 1969 son of Donald and Mrs Konyk in the Rossburn district. He was missing from his home at 1:00 p m on April 9 following a creek near the farmhouse. An extensive search including Brandon underwater recovery unit and divers from Brandon Virden and Treherne recovered the body about 11 30 a m fifty feet south of a bridge on P R No 254.
