John Shmyr of Rossburn 79 obituary
John Shmyr, born July 4, 1897 in the Ukraine, died April 5, 1977 at Rossburn Hospital. He immigrated in 1899, married Anastasia Hrynkiw in 1920, and farmed in Menzie and Rossburn before moving to town in 1975. Survived by wife Anastasia, five sons, two daughters, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one brother and two sisters. Funeral April 9 at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, with interment in parish cemetery. Pallbearers listed. Rae's Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Local Teacher Elected To MTS Executive
Ralf Kyritz head of the science department at Sturgeon Creek Regional Secondary School in St James Assiniboia was elected president of The Manitoba Teachers Society. The provincial executive was chosen at the AG meeting on Thursday March 31 at the Winnipeg Inn with Al Valentine first vice president Marilyn Thompson second vice president and Doug Baylis treasurer.
