Retention groups press to save Rossburn rail line during Clark visit
A Neepawa crowd led by John Mitchell urged rail retention as part of a briefing to Joe Clark on April 6. The delegation, about 25 representatives, argued CN detours and poor track threaten local grain shipping from two United Grain Growers and Manitoba Wheat Pool elevators. They cited Hall Commission findings and ongoing interchanges, noting the Rossburn subdivision serves over 1,000 producers across 13 communities including Erickson, while PRAC urged abandonment and suggested farmers move grain to CP when feasible.
