Mrs Helen Hetter age 56 died suddenly March 21 1978 at her home. She was born January 7 1922 in Angusville and lived in Birtle before moving to Russell in 1965. She married Jim Hetter June 7 1971 and worked at Queen's Hotel. Survivors include husband Jim son Lawrence Vancouver daughter Lynn Winnipeg sisters Jean Emily Jessie Vancouver Red Deer and Stan Russell and three grandchildren. Predeceased by her father 1945 mother 1977 and a sister Mary.

John J M Halliday aged 65 died March 14 1978 at Shoal Lake Hospital after a long illness He was born December 20 1912 at Bellefield Farm Vista Manitoba and educated at Wheatfield School He served with the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders from 1941 to 1945 and farmed in Vista thereafter He retired in 1973 due to ill health His survivors include his mother Mrs Helen Halliday brothers Mathew Adam Thomas and Cameron sisters Elizabeth and Juanita seven nieces six nephews and two sisters in law Pallbearers included nephews James Crawford Arthur Halliday Herbert Nash David Woychyshyn and Kenneth Lillie Funeral services were held March 17 at Westminster United Church Shoal Lake with Rev I Smith and interment at Argyle Cemetery Canadian Legion provided a Guard of Honour and Rae's Funeral Home had charge of arrangements
