Lions Club Ice Carnival Financial Statement

The Rossburn Lions Club presents the first annual Ice Carnival financials for March. Admissions raise 302.00 while prizes total 25.75 and printing 5.75. Lunch 17.20 and rink rental 60.00 make the 108.70 remaining expenses.

The Rossburn Lions Club held a Whist Drive at Laz Aruk’s Cafe last Thursday with over 40 members, wives and friends. Winners were Frank Kominko, Jim Carson, Mrs H Huston and Mrs M Slow. The men served lunch after the cards.

4-H CLUB NEWS AT BRANDON WINTER FAIR

Steve Yaskiw led the 4 H Sewing Club to Brandon Winter Fair on Monday. L C Johnston and Harris Huston guided the 4 H Calf Club to the Calf Scramble on Tuesday. Ricky Hamilton was chosen as a contestant from the Shoal Lake area.

Galonsky and Tripp at Regina Insurance Meeting

MFA Provincial Secretary J Galonsky and S J Tripp of Killarney attended the Regina meeting of the Cooperative Life Insurance Company and the Cooperative Fire and Casualty Company in March. Tripp stood in for MFU president R Usick due to his rural Manitoba engagements.

Kindergarten Meeting Announcement For Enrollment

Funeral Rites For Mrs. G. Plant Pioneer of the Valley

Agnes Plante 95 and 2 months, born Agnes McVey in Ontario 1867, died after a short illness in Easton Nursing Winnipeg. She and husband Gordon Plante settled the Valley District in 1889, ran Glen Elmo Post Office, lived in Rossburn then Winnipeg with her family. Survived by four sons and daughter, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. Funeral conducted at Town Hall with Braendle’s Funeral Home in charge.

Coming events include Bingo in the Rossburn Town Hall basement on Friday April 6 at 8 30 p m sponsored by the 4H Calf Club and 4 H Sewing Clubs with free coffee and doughnuts. Easter Ham Bingo at the RC Church basement Meriday April 9 at 8 p m features 20 games extra cards and a Surprise Package prize. The Rossburn Theatre presents The Nun's Story in color at 8 p m April 5 6 and 7 with 50c and 25c tickets for a Warner Bros award winner showing one showing per night.

The Pool Elevators at Ross burn Birdtail and Vista will be closed for an attending agents meeting. CGIT plans a Tea and Bazaar in the United Church annex on Saturday April 14 at 7 30 p m.

Parish Hall Bingo Night Promotes Prizes and Fun

A bingo event sponsored by U.C.W.L. will be held in the Parish Hall on Tuesday April 17. Twenty games cost 75 cents with extra cards at 50 cents for three. Prizes include $2 cash and a ham for every other prize. A baseball meeting follows on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Slon’s Garage.

Obituary of Walter Kuznick at Oakburn Church

Walter Kuznick 50, of Vista district, died Monday March 26 at home. Born 1911 in Shoal Lake Rural Municipality, he lived in Saskatchewan and Hamilton Ontario before settling with sister in Vista. Army service 1941 1944. Survived by mother, wife Helen, daughter Jean Chuckrey, five sisters and three grandchildren. Funeral at St Catharine Catholic Church Oakburn March 31 with prayers March 29. Interment at Oakburn cemetery. Pallbearers listed.
