Village of Rossburn Sets 1962 Tax Levy at 67 Mills
The Rossburn village council held a special meeting chaired by Mayor Stitt to set the 1962 tax levy at 67 mills for both uncontrollable and controllable purposes with the same discount as last year. By-Law No 344 will be read and passed for the 1962 tax rates starting May 1962. The session adjourned to the next meeting.

Despite an overnight blizzard the Hamiota constituency held a nominating meeting at Oakburn on April 7 to select the NDP candidate for the coming federal election. Stuart Barber won a tight race after withdrawals left five nominees, with support voiced for unity and parity prices for farmers. Magnus Eliason praised the nominees and fundraising exceeded fourteen hundred dollars as Fred Zapltny spoke on social security, fair GDP distribution and economic planning. Continued on Page Four.

Free Polio Vaccine Clinics Across Communities
The Department of Health offers free oral polio vaccine to all residents six months and older. Clinics run in Elphinstone Oakburn Shoal Lake Ile Rossburn Birtle Solsgirth and Russell with daily afternoon hours and some evening sessions through early May. Children will receive vaccines at school and adults and preschoolers at scheduled clinics.

Mrs Mary Derlago 67 of Rossburn passed away after a short illness on April 3 at Rossburn Hospital. Born in the Western Ukraine she came to Canada in 1910 and married Andrew in 1912. Funeral services were held at the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church with burial at the local cemetery. Pallbearers named. Survived by husband Andrew one daughter Sophie Kozun nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Raginski Funeral Home Oakburn assisted.

Rural Council Sets Mill Rate At Regular Meeting Tuesday
The Rural Municipality of Rossburn council met April 15 in the council chambers. Reeve Alex Cleland and councillors Morley Brown William Hyra Mike Pawluk and Fred Posmituck attended. The tax levy for 1962 was set at 25.8 mills for uncontrollable purposes and 30 mills for controllable totaling 55.8 mills.
