New MAST President From Bunclady Takes Lead
Bob Rose, longtime Souris Valley School Division board member and MAST officer, was chosen Manitoba Trustees president for 1982 83. A farmer and farm supply dealer at Souris, he and wife Lois live at Bunclady with five children. In Brandon he urged cooperation among educators amid tax-dollar competition and noted MAST’s shift toward leadership while acknowledging possible internal challenges. He assumed the presidency on March 20.

Attitudes differ on Riding Mountain Park
A March 12 Ste. Rose meeting of municipal provincial and federal officials examined attitudes on Riding Mountain National Park and its relation to other bodies. Dennis Clark noted studies show the need for dialogue to resolve conflicts with landowners and communities and cited $800,000 beaver dam damage over eight years with no compensation. M.P.s Lewycky and Mayer pledged to press Parks Canada and Manitoba officials for action.
