Phelps County Citizens Convene to Select Delegates for Houston Convention

A mass meeting in Rolla with David Lenox presiding elected D B R Parsons as chairman and formed a resolutions committee. Delegates W Bishop F B Lenox and J A Dun were named to Houston on February 11 with alternates Henry Andrae David Lenox and Anvil James. The group urged Union preservation, opposed secession, and urged a border-state convention to ease the nation’s crisis.
