Obituary of Martin Curran Dies in Garfield Township
Martin Curran died suddenly of acute dilation of the heart on Friday October 21 while working for Betts Construction Co in south Garfield township. He was 59, a widower, and owned property in Kansas. The body lay at McIntire funeral home in Rolfe and was shipped to Pratt for interment after his sister Nellie Betts arrived from Sioux City with her daughter.

George W. Henderson Pioneer Soldier and Politician Dies
Obituary notes the 94 year old George W. Henderson of Highland Farm near Rolfe Iowa who died October 22 1927. A veteran of the 14th Town Infantry and 7th Town Cavalry he helped bring rail service to Mason City served in Iowa Senate and promoted local education and industry. He left a large family and was remembered for honesty kindness and active community leadership. Funeral held October 25 with military honors and burial at Clinton Garfield Cemetery.
