Residents report shopping and social visits across Emmetsburg and nearby towns. Church meetings continue with evangelists, a wife and a husband celebrate recovery, and a hat making class gathers at several homes. A Mayors day wedding marks a community spotlight as the couple plans a honeymoon.
The Speech Club at Rolfe High School presents the Metropolitan Trio as the first event on the lyceum series Friday evening. Tickets are affordable with adults at 1.00, students 0.60, and children 0.35, and many residents plan to attend.
A successful teacher, now partnering with his father, has purchased a hardware business at La Port City and will devote his time to this enterprise.
The Plo Ver Shipping Association held its annual meeting at the school building. It highlighted co operative marketing of livestock and reported shipping ninety cars totaling 5068 hogs 342 cattle and eighty two sheep for 14678890. Directors were re elected and M H Kelly spoke on farmers direct sales and commissions.
The Rolfe Community Club held its annual meeting at the Presbyterian church basement on October 17 with a supper by the Missionary Society. Officer elections named Abe DeVaul as President and Geo. R. Cook as Treasurer. Lighter as Secretary. Will Pattee as Vice-President. Members praised 4-H results, discussed backing school activities, and urged more frequent meetings and community support for the football team and Lake City game.
Community invites all to a box social and program at the Piker Town school Friday evening. Martha Otto and Lara Christensen promise a good time. The Olive Branch Society meets October 27 at Mrs. Jas M. Smith home with Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Howland assisting.
The Junior Class presents The Empty House a three act comedy drama at the school auditorium on Oct. 28. Cast includes Nora Larry Ferguson Arthur Weishaar Fredericka Evelyn Virgil Barbara Arlene Hamiter etc with roles such as the mysterious visitor and the witch. Curtain at 8 pm Admission adults 35 cents children 25 cents. Next Rolfe Public Schools parents teachers meet Oct 24 to adopt a constitution and plan ongoing Parent Teacher activities. Goals include education objectives and play program with demonstrations and a vocal duet and piano trio performance. Baby Beef Club in Pocahontas County seeks steady funding for 10 to 18 year olds with steer calves weighed Nov 1 to Dec 1 1927 and entries open to all county youth free of fees.
Miss Vera Nelson and Orvan B. Olerich united in marriage at Rolfe’s Methodist church on October 15 1927 at 6 pm. The service featured a double ring ceremony with floral arch and music by Amy Ireland and church choirs. The couple hosted a reception for about 140 guests at the Nelson home and will reside near Rolfe after a Chicago trip.
Football Friday features Lake City High meeting Rolfe High at Rolfe field in City Park on Friday October 28 at 3 15 p m. The Rolfe squad has shown steady improvement and both teams seek a strong turnout with alumni Community Club and local business backing for a big crowd.

The twenty seventh annual Pythian Sisters convention for Iowa's Tenth District met in Rolfe with delegates from Milford Sutherland Spencer Sheldon Emmetsburg Estherville Laurens Newell Fort Dodge and Rolfe. Grand Chief Hazel Robinson of Glenwood helped lead the event directed by District Deputy Grand Chief Anne Wiley. Registration began at 10 am with lodge work and social activities including dancing to Heathman's orchestra and card games. Meals were served at the Presbyterian church basement and the meeting was deemed very successful.
