Auxiliary Meeting of Local Legion Unit Held

Members of the American Legion Auxiliary met at Mrs Will Smiths home with 20 attending. Goldie Ralle reported bake sale proceeds of 10.22 dollars. A quilt pattern was chosen and committees appointed for Armistice Day dinner calendar card parties and other activities. Dues and jelly donations were received. Plans were made to clean Legion Hall and an oyster supper hosted by Legion boys followed.

P T A Meeting Delivers Busy School Program

A large crowd attended a Wednesday P T A session in the high school assembly room. Mrs H F Howard opened the meeting, with the program by Mrs Otto Maltzahhn and students from the Little German Band and several grades performing a one act play and songs. Grace D McMichael of Pocahontas spoke briefly as Supt W C Nystuen noted remarks. A lunch followed served by local ladies.

Mrs Thomas Phelp Dies at 86 in Pocahontas Home

Word reached Tuesday of the passing of Mrs. Thomas Phelp at her daughter’s home in Pocahontas. She died at 86 after a period of illness and a three week bedfast spell. Survived by daughter Mrs. Harry Greene and five sons Ralph Pocahontas Charles Havelock Fred Willian Minnesota George Sanborn Iowa, plus many relatives and friends. A prayer service was held in the community.
