E J Rosenberger urges safe harvest practices on radio KAYL. He warns of injuries from corn pickers and offers eight safety rules including stopping machines to clean, training operators, wearing fitted clothing, guarding PTO shields, and avoiding work while fatigued or at night.
The Grant Glisteners Filene and Trene Meh received a blue ribbon for the dairy demonstration Ice Cream at the Waterloo National Dairy Castle Congress on Friday morning October 7. They qualified after being named county champion dairy demonstration team at the 4 H fair. Both nutrition record books also won blue ribbons. Pocahontas county residents present included Mrs Lars Meh Alice Mr and Mrs Ted OmtRedt all of Fonda Mr and Mrs Kermit Welander Pomeroy and Beryl White Johnson county extension home economist.
Last Monday's strong wind damaged steel bins, roofs, small buildings, trees and fences across Bradgate. Large trees fell at Will Crans and lines were cut. many outbuildings and sheds were toppled or wrecked.
