D.M. T. School reports fun with a circus unit and upcoming farm unit. Second grade students earned 100 in spelling last week. Art class will feature clown faces made from milk filters. A clean plate and bottle contest tracks weekly room scores with top rooms earning a main dish prize.
Classroom News Notes Mrs Nielsen Absent This Week
Third and fourth graders report Mrs Nielsen away two days this week and Mrs Fisher filling in. A leaf hunt with Ms Fisher, Bemidji souvenirs, and a Paul Bunyan tale entertained students. Fourth graders made chrysanthemums from curled paper and spellings were 100 percent correct. The fifth to seventh grades discuss the World Series on TV and Mr Foster’s absence for harvest season with Mrs Fisher teaching. The sixth and seventh grade English classes presented end of week reports and letters to Mr Foster.

The State Conservation Commission outlines a split deer season from December 1 to 12 with bow and arrow only in six counties Cherokee Black Hawk Clinton Polk Wapello and part of Pottawattamie and a bow plus shotgun period December 10 to 12 in numerous counties including Lyon Osceola Sioux Plymouth Woodbury and others. Daily bag limit one deer and possession limit one. shooting hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Rifled slug shotguns and bows 40 pound pull allowed. crossbows and mechanical bows prohibited. dogs domestic animals vehicles salt or bait prohibited. a metal seal with the hunter license number is required before transport.

Deer Hunting Rules for 1954 Iowa Season
Residents and landowners may hunt one deer on their land if not removed from the land and if sealed. Hunters must hold a 1954 deer license, wear red insignia, and landowners and tenants must wear red insignia. Farmers hunting on their own land need an identification card, deer tag, and safety insignia. Licensees must mail a hunt report within three days after the season ends. Applications due November 15, 1954, limit 15 dollars, Des Moines. If applications exceed 5000, a lottery will determine recipients.
