Eva Evelyn Heller Miller dies young in Powhatan burial
Eva Evelyn Heller Miller of Plover near Powhatan county Iowa died October 30 after a brief illness at Fort Dodge hospital aged sixteen years, eleven months and six days. Survived by husband Joseph Miller, parents John and Mrs Heller, five siblings Geneva Leslie Alma Raymond Dorothy, and other relatives. Funeral services led by Rev H O Ward at Plover M E church with burial in Powhatan cemetery.

The lyceum course hosts the Har rod Jubilee Singers at the high school Thursday. Sixth and seventh graders’ Good Luck Literary Society presented readings songs and a play Friday. Visitors included Mrs Garlock Mrs Leah Grove and Mrs A N Heathman. The Have lock team hosts Varina after a 52 2 win by the locals.

Miss Wdna Hoag enjoying a three weeks vacation with home folks in Humboldt. Verda Bull visited Gilmore City and sister Miss Icel Bull. Mrs. Benoit on the sick list. Dr W W Beam of Rolfe made a professional call in town. Humboldt shoppers included Mr. and Mrs. I W Dayton and daughter Thelma with the Misses Haupt and Colby. Several residents visited Des Moines, Des Moines friends, and funeral attendance noted for Dr Dean. Progress Club, Baptist Ladies Circle, and D H D B Club social events reported. West Bend and local high school basketball games ended 21-20 for locals, 24-14 for visitors.

Twenty two farmers attended three meat demonstration meetings organized by the Pocahontas County Farm Bureau with Roy Snyder detailing slaughter, cutting and curing techniques. He stressed proper bleeding and chilling, choosing dry or brine cures, and gave precise cure formulas and time guidelines for ham and other cuts. The note ends with a local proverb about doing one's duty and keeping a wife informed.
