Farmers Urged Not To Burn Grassy Areas
The State Conservation Commission asks farmers not to burn roadsides fence lines grassy sloughs or other open areas to protect waterfowl and pheasant nests. The first nesting attempt will occur in two to three weeks and is usually most productive due to a large clutch size. Destroying it risks renesting with smaller clutches and fewer eggs hatched.
