Pedersen 19 Killed in Action in Germany

A telegram from the war department confirms that Lester Pedersen age 19 was killed in action in Germany on April 16. His parents Mr and Mrs Chris Pedersen received the news Sunday morning.

Phi Beta Kappa adds 25th local inductee Eldon Obrecht

Eldon Obrecht was among about thirty students elected last week to the Iowa Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the national honorary scholastic society. The George Jeffries family attended Sunday services at the Plover Methodist Church where Rev. S. T. Grove, the grandfather of Mrs. Jeffries, aged 87, preached. Mrs. William Fisher hosted a Sunday birthday dinner for Mr. Fisher and Mrs. Sam Nicoson. Benny Sharp had her tonsils removed in Fort Dodge on Tuesday.

40 years ago on Thursday May 7 1925 Art White returned from the east to Akron Ohio after work with a rubber firm and is reported as having grown fat at the job. Mrs H F Olerich improves after rheumatism left her on crutches. Isaac McKim injures an ankle during bread jumping at school and remains hobbled. Mrs Ed Lehnus Nelda Charley Edward and Luella Shaver visit Elsie Lehnus in Sioux City where she studies nursing. Elwood Ole rich son of Mr and Mrs Henry Ole rich is treated after a pony accident with three stitches. R S Mather recovers from flu and moves about again.

A shopper counted exact change and left five dollars behind when a five dollar bill attached itself to one of her singles. She later realized the loss is recovered by a Rolfe merchant who helped locate the missing bill. The note praises the Rolfe merchant and encourages shopping there.
